Abstrakt: Brief Background: Ectodermal dysplasia is a rare group of disorders affecting the hair, nails, teeth and sweat glands to a variable degree. Poor aesthetics due to missing teeth or abnormal tooth form may be the first indicator of the disorder. This case report describes the case of a patient who exhibited oligodontia with peg shaped teeth in a hypoplastic arches and was concerned about the poor appearance and difficulty in chewing. Materials and Methods: An overdenture supported (hybrid) prosthesis with studs attachment was decided as prosthetic rehabilitation. The male post is incorporated in the tooth root and the female clip in the denture. Discussion: Hybrid denture prosthesis with Ceka attachment preserves residual alveolar ridge which improves stress distribution, retention and stability; vertical dimension and proprioception are also maintained. Better retention was obtained in this case by using Ceka stud (resilient) attachment. The disadvantages with overdentures are lack of hygiene maintenance, expensive and bulkier than F.P.D or R.P.D. Attachments encroach the interocclusal space, and do not accommodate the aesthetic setting of teeth leading to fracture of denture base. Summary and Conclusions: The patient using complete dentures for prolonged period of time with frustrations due to its inertness and lack of retention will definitely find a new life with a tooth supported overdenture. Tooth supported overdenture fulfils the cherished desire of the patient, providing a retentive, stable and natural feeling of occlusal loading while in function. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
