Rediscovering the artist Godfrey Rivers and his legacy to Queensland.

Abstrakt: A biography of artist Godfrey Rivers is presented. He was born in 1858 in Plymouth, England, and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. He arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1886, where he continued to paint and teach art. In 1890 he was appointed art master at Brisbane Technical College; he later became president of the Queensland Art Society and founded several other artists' organizations. He retired and moved to Tasmania in 1915 and died ten years later.
