Abstrakt: The article focuses on the history, development, and benefits of the use of medical futility to address the challenges faced by severely disabled children in the U.S. It analyzes the role of the legislation in states across the U.S. in making medical futility policies more accessible. Also discussed is the opinion of the American Medical Association (AMA) Code of Medical Ethics regarding the obligation of physicians to change the course of medical care in the case of medical futility.
