Abstrakt: This article features the promotion of tobacco-free schools by the Tobacco Education Committee of the Northeast Cancer Control Coalition in Missouri. The coalition was concerned about the children's exposure to environmental tobacco smoke as well as about the example that was being set for students in schools that allowed smoking in school buildings and on school property. The Tobacco-Free Schools Policy Guide was developed by members of the coalition as part of the project. A technical assistance group was formed to work directly with the school districts.
