The article discusses the cultural impact of the presence of Africans in Ireland since the eighteenth century. The views of John O'Keefe, an Irish actor and playwright, on African singer Rachael Baptiste are presented. The failure of efforts to form slave trading companies in cities of Dublin, Limerick and Belfast in Ireland is mentioned. It also addresses the reception of tours by African singers, actors and minstrel groups in Ireland during the nineteenth century. |
