Causes and patterns of readmissions in patients with common comorbidities: retrospective cohort study.

Abstrakt: The article presents the study which examined the cause and patterns of readmissions in patients with common comorbidities, particularly in the U.S., as of January 2014. The study was conducted in an academic tertiary medical centre in Boston, Massachusetts. Based on the results, the most likely main diagnoses of potentially avoidable 30 day readmissions include infection, neoplasm and heart failure.
