The article presents a study which examined how some drugs found in surface water cause the in vitro impairment of harbor seal lymphocytes. Topics discussed include the exposure of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from captive seals and a seal B lymphoma cell line to selected substances, evaluation of cell viability assay, and the change observed in DNA synthesis after mitogen stimulation. The absence of cellular impairment in phagocytosis or lymphoblastic proliferation assay is explained. |
