The article describes the case of a 59-year old man who experienced cocaine-induced cardiac arrest and had a full neurological recovery after use of therapeutic hypothermia. The researchers review the relevant pathophysiology of cocaine-induced cardiac arrest and discusses the mechanism and history of therapeutic hypothermia. Outcomes of the case reinforce clinical evidence recommending the use of therapeutic hypothermia in cocaine-induced cardiac arrest. |
