| Abstrakt: | The article reports on an epidemic of opioid drug abuse which is being seen in the U.S. and discusses the challenges that addition professionals face when attempting to effectively treat opioid addition. A discussion of an opioid addiction treatment initiative which was implemented at the substance abuse treatment center Hazelden and includes adjunctive medication assisted treatment, group therapy and a twelve step based program, is presented. |
