The article presents information on a study conducted to determine the accuracy of the Physiologic and Operative Score for enUmeration of Mortality and Morbidity (POSSUM) score in predicting the results after emergency abdominal surgery in patients suffering from liver cirrhosis. In the study, serum albumin level, total bilirubin, and prothrombin time INR were evaluated. The physiological status of patients and magnitude of surgery procedure were evaluated on the basis of the POSSUM score. |
