Abstrakt: | The article looks at the development of a religious cult in St. Kilda, Scotland formed by religious leader Roderick Mor during the 17th century. It states that social and economic conditions in St. Kilda were very poor and were in a position to be mislead by a religious impostor. It also looks at the aspects of Mor's cult including ritual killing of sheep, unintelligible prayers, and a trial by ordeal system to hand out penances. Mor was eventually deposed, and he admitted his deceit. |
