The article analyses the relationship between Klotho, a transmembrane protein, and human coronary artery disease (CAD). They study reveals that the patients suffering with CAD have lower soluble concentrations of Klotho, as well as reduced levels of Klotho gene expression in the vascular wall, which are associated with the presence of and CAD and cardiovascular risk factors. Other topics discussed are the variants of the Klotho gene, coronary angiography and vascular expression of Klotho. |
