The article focuses on the commitment of the University Health Network to improve patient care and workflow using Lean management principles. It offers information on the rapid improvement event (RIE) happening each month at UHN held as part of a strategy to improve patient care and workforce processes. Hospital improvements that were observed following the implementation of Lean are highlighted, including reduction in inter-department phone calls by 64%. |
