The article presents a case study on the assessment of recurrent metastatic neck nodes through x18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET). Observation on the development of multiple contralateral avid necknodes following partial maxillectomy for head and neck cancer is made. The capacity of FDG-PET to provide higher sensitivity and higher negative predictive value in detecting disease recurrence compared to standard computed tomography (CT) is cited. |
