EVALUATION OF MUNICIPAL WASTE MANAGEMENT IN CITIES AND TOWNS IN SLOVAKIA.

Abstrakt: In our contribution we are assessing the results of a survey that was aimed to determine the position of representatives of cities and towns throughout Slovakia to the issue of separation of municipal waste. From the total number of 2891 villages / towns of the Slovak Republic, who recieved the questionnaire, 551 respondents participated in the survey, representing 19% - potential return. Based on respondents' answers, we found that the separate collection of waste is introduced in 98.5% of villages / towns of the Slovak Republic. In 76% villages / towns of the Slovak Republic the export of garbage, as well as the separate collection is provided by the same organization. According to 47% of representatives of local government, citizens are motivated to separate municipal waste, while 34% of representatives villages / cities states that citizens are not sufficiently motivated. The most important factor that would encourage the separation of garbage by the respondents was - financial motivation (lower waste fee for those who separate), monitoring of compliance with the applicable general regulations of the waste (penalties for violations) and better propagation [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
