Implementing INSPIRE Directive in Romania means, among others, establishing a Spatial Data Infrastructure that will hold and support all geospatial resources that will be made available through the national INSPIRE Geoportal. Still to have a functional and successful INSPIRE working environment there should be taken into consideration all aspects, not just the technical ones, with special regards to establishing solid data and services policies among all national contributors, namely INIS Council. Our paper will focus primarily on technical aspects of the development and implementation process trying to identify all major challenges and key stages that were taken throughout the project.
