Abstrakt: SUMMARY A method to utilize specific contrast ranges in diagnostic radiology has been investigated. This has been achieved by analysing the continuous x-ray spectrum at different exciting Kvp's and reducing the low and high energy photons in the x-ray spectrum that offer little or no contribution to the radiographic contrast. Heavy metal foils with x-ray absorption edges between 20 and 69 Kev have been investigated and clinical trials are proceeding. The intial results show that the radiation burden to the patient is reduced by at least fifty per cent. Clinical results will be reported at a later date. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
