Abstrakt: SUMMARY Lead bullets discharged with high energy will shatter when they impact on bone. Should the contact with bone take place within the capsule of a joint the synovium will be outlined subsequently by the trans-synovial spread of small fragments. The curious radiologic appearance that consequently develops bears some resemblance to an orthodox arthrogram and is here termed a 'plumbogram'. Follow up films at 28 months show that more than half of the lead has been removed from the joint. This takes place by lymphatic absorption. When sufficient lead is absorbed it can lead to lead poisoning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
