Abstrakt: SUMMARY The full nature of recurrence is discussed, but in the main it is taken as meaning exacerbation or persistence of the disease after conventional therapy with irradiation and/or cytotoxics such as MOPP, meaning that MOPP would follow a radiotherapy 'recurrence'. Exacerbation after remission induced by MOPP could conceivably be retreated with MOPP. When one needs alternative treatment for failure with MOPP, one requires a protocol containing agents for which there is no cross resistance to the cytotoxics used, there are demonstrated activities as single agents against Hodgkin's disease, there are different cytokinetic interactions, there are different toxicities-and which can be used intermittently to permit recovery of myeloid elements, and immune functions. B-DOPA, ABVD, B-CAVe and CVB appear to meet these requirements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
