Uriglox, a dip-stick screening test for bacteriuria, and Uricult, a dip-slide method of culture, were compared with semi-quantitative culture by a standard technique. The dip-stick test, carried out on 415 specimens of urine from out-patients and 205 from in-patients, gave negative results in over 40% of specimens shown to have bacteriuria on culture.
