SUMMARY In summary it may be stated that a lipid has been demonstrated to be liberated from spermatozoa during the tissue reactions resultant upon extravasation, and that a similar lipid has been demonstrated to be present in the lesions of granulomatous orchitis. There are good reasons for believing that the granulomatous reaction in these conditions is a specific response to the presence of the lipid, and, from the similarities in this lipid histochemically, it seems likely that it is identical in the two conditions, suggesting that the original source of the lipid in the case of granulomatous orchitis is probably disintegrating spermatozoa within the seminiferous tubules.
