Abstrakt: SUMMARY A condition is described following the injection of vinegar and other caustics into the bladder in an attempt to bring about abortion. After initial acute cystitis and pelvic cellulitis, the bladder contracts, the ureteric orifices gape and are incompetent, and the ureters and pelves become dilated and tortuous. These changes cause incontinence, frequency, difficulty in micturition. and attacks of pyelonephritis. One case is reported and thirteen others in the literature are reviewed. The pathogenesis and treatment are discussed: ileocystoplasty is probably the treatment of choice in the late case. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
