Selective distal facial nerve neurectomy was performed on seven orbicularis oculi muscles in four patients. Five operations were successful and two succeeded following a completion neurectomy. Our operation combines the approach for an Aufricht rhytidectomy and the selective denervation of the orbicularis oculi muscle only, and bypasses the parotid gland completely.
