Six cases of hypernephroma metastatic to the head and neck are presented (larynx, tongue, temporal bone, supraclavicular region, nasopharynx, and occipital region) and the literature is reviewed. Hypernephromas that metastasize to the head and neck often simulate primary tumors, and the otolaryngologist must be aware of this diagnostic possibility, especially when dealing with paratracheal masses. Surgical removal of accessible solitary metastasis is recommended and offers the best palliation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
