This research presents the dilemma school leaders face in issues of religion in schools, both politically and legally. It describes a case study in which a Christian rock band was denied the right to play at a school assembly. The high school principal initially said yes and then called the superintendent. The superintendent called lawyers who said that the band, based on their website, focused on the message of Jesus Christ, and that it was not a good idea to have them play at the assembly. Three years later, two lawsuits and over $100,00 of legal bills confirmed the lawyers were correct. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
