| Abstrakt: |
The article provides information on gout, its prevalence in Great Britain and audit of referrals received between January 2010 and May 2012. Gout refers to a crystal deposition disease caused by increase in serum uric acid levels leading to formation of monosodium urate crystals in joints and other tissues. Its prevalence in Great Britain varies between 1.4 to 7.3 percent. Results of the audit are presented. Risk factors for gout include alcohol intake and obesity. |
