An essay is presented on development of the Department of Foundations, Social Policy and Research at a college Faculty Senate meeting in the summer of 2009. The authors mention their concern regarding the irrelevance of philosophical and social foundations based on the principles of several philosophers including Lao Tzu, Aristotle, and Confucius. They add that the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) has high standards for educational quality control in the U.S. |
