Abstrakt: | The article offers information on the history of Middle English romance, which recognized the central place of romance within medieval English literary culture. It says that the Middle English romance offered as a substance to understand medieval literacy culture outside nobility and court. It states that the Middle English romance moved down the social ladder, which argues that moving out of the courtly realm is reflected in the narrative forms that romance arrived to embody. |
