| Abstrakt: |
The article discusses the disposition of the U.S. national debt limit since fiscal year 2001 with its continuous increase in debt held by the public and in government accounts. The issues about the financial management restrictions from 2001 to present are analyzed including the enactment of the Budget Control Act of 2011 on August 2, 2011 placing the cap at 2.4 trillion U.S. dollars. An overview of the debt from fiscal years 1996 to 2012 as shares of the gross domestic product is presented. |
