The article discusses the U.S. national debt including those held by the public and by government accounts, and how it accumulates as a result of a budget deficit. An overview of the initiatives by the U.S. Congress revising the federal debt is also presented such as the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The contents, tables, and appendixes pertaining to the topic are provided. |
