Abstrakt: The article discusses several developments involving New York tort laws between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, focusing on topics such as the assumption of the risk doctrine, premises liability, and federal preemption in relation to a reported lack of seat belts on buses. Several decisions by the New York Court of Appeals are addressed, along with contributory negligence, absolute defenses, and Section 1411 of the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules. Comparative causation is also examined.
