Does giving segmental muscle vibration alter the response to botulinum toxin injections in the treatment of spasticity in people with multiple sclerosis? A single-blind randomized controlled trial.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study which examines the use of either segmental muscle vibration and botulinum toxin-A injection or both for reduction of spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients. The study randomized 42 multiple sclerosis patients into three groups which were administered with muscle vibration, botulinum toxin, and both. Modified Ashworth Scale at knee and ankle shows reduction in all groups. Moreover, botulinum toxin only patients shows significant rise in knee and ankle spasticity.
