| Abstrakt: |
An essay is presented about guidelines for sustainable design of research vessels drafted by the EUROFLEETS project. Some environmental issues arising from ship operations are discussed including pollution by oil, pollution by sewage, pollution by garbage and air pollution. Recommendations for using anti-fouling systems and ballast water treatment systems are mentioned. The need to reduce underwater radiated noise produced by vessels is explained. |
