The article focuses on the treatment of black men in the United States in the 21st century. It states that in 1903 W.E.B. DuBois argued in "The Souls of Black Folk" that African-Americans are viewed as a perpetual problem, and mentions the U.S. criminal justice system's mindset which considers black teenagers and men as a problem. It comments that black were incarcerated at a grossly disproportionate rate during the War on Drugs, and talks about the lack of rights and joblessness of ex-convicts. |
