Abstrakt: Data are presented on experimental investigations into the distribution of shear stresses over a cross section of a reinforced concrete beam. Special attention was given to the determination of the maximum diagonal tension due to shear only. Tests were carried out on two beams containing only tension reinforcement. The beams were subjected to two concentrated loads and superimposed bending moments. The results indicate that the nominal shear stress is a reliable measure of the maximum diagonal tension due to shear. Within the scope of the investigation, there is a linear relationship between the applied shear force and the maximum diagonal tension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
