The authors discuss legal aspects of communal rejection in responses to natural disasters or public health emergencies, in which individuals or groups are denied assistance or experience discrimination based on factors such as race, immigration status, or poverty. Several legal interventions against communal rejection are explored, including U.S. Constitutional rights such as equal protection, U.S. federal and state law, and private civil and political actions. |
