The tool holder system is a very important part of the cutting tool, which assures the orientation in the specific device and is responsible for the machining precision. The paper presents a generalization of the tool holder system. The model consists of three conical shapes: two exterior ones that allow the external orientation and an interior one for the internal orientation. Two polygons delimit the transversal section of the generalized model, each of them being a sum of segments with different shapes. Every part of the conical shape can be a potential surface of orientation in a tool holder system. By particularization, all types of tool holders can be obtained. A precision analysis for the most usual tool holders was done, and after that, a generalized model of precision analysis was proposed. This consists of a spatial dimensional chain that considers linear and angular errors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
