Abstrakt: The article presents a study which aims to determine the impact of jaw positioning on intelligibility. The study used four phonetically balanced monosyllabic word lists developed at the Harvard Psycho-Acoustic Labortory as stimulus material. Examination of the mean values with differences needed for significance shows that differences in intelligibility in preference of the open jaw position exist at two of the three signal-to-noise (S/N) ratios used.
