The article discusses the negative impact that poor dictation habits can have on the quality of care and its timely reimbursement. Some of the factors that lead to poor dictation include dictating too fast, the tendency to multitask, foreign accents, and not relaying complete data in an efficient manner. The best way to improve physician dictation practice is education, as well as being attentive, consistently articulate, speak with proper grammar, and considerate of the person listening.
