The behavior of collated steel fibers when they do not completely separate in the hardened mix is analyzed. The test program included paste-fiber bond pull out tests and concrete flexure tests using two types of fibers in different separation states. Experimental results show a well-defined dependence between fiber separation and concrete properties. The improvements in toughness and strength may be insignificant when the separation is insufficient. The results of pullout bond tests are in accordance with concrete tests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
