Abstrakt: A literary criticism of the book "La Terre" by Emile Zola is presented. It discusses the legal content of the novel and examines the presentation of representatives of the legal system. It states the position of the peasantry towards the legal system highlighting the degree which characterizes in the mind-set and daily lives of the characters in the novel. It mentions the fundamental respect for property amongst the peasants occupied with protection and transmission within the community.
