Abstrakt: The article focuses on the clinical profile of scorpionism which is cited to reflect a state of generalised neurological hyperexcitability. It discusses a study which reveals that two Parabuthus species, P. granulatus and P. transvaalicus, are linked with serious poisonings. Figures are also shown including the general morphology of the P. granulatus and P. transvaalicus scorpions, distribution maps of both species and neurotoxic venoms' mechanisms of action on the peripheral nervous system.
