A literary criticism of the novel "The Edible Woman," by Margaret Atwood is presented. It outlines the characters and explores the feminity of the female subject Marian as burlesque performance as she attempts to satisfy male director Peter and critic Duncan. It examines the resistance of the author to label Marian as feminist and highlights the understanding of gender by demonstrating Marian's calculated nature of gendered identity. |
