Abstrakt: The article discusses a study that evaluates the effectiveness of using high frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) to treat patients with 2009 H1N1 influenza with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). It shows that hat even with a lung protective strategy, ventilator induced lung injury is possible. It also indicates that an increased conventional ventilation period of more then 3 days prior to HFOV was associated with higher mortality
