| Abstrakt: |
The article compares the benefits of alkanolamines over caustic for the pH neutralization of latex paint. It highlights how the primary deleterious effect of using caustic soda and/or caustic potash as a neutralizing base in paint results in a decrease in colloid stability. It also shows that the slight excess of hydroxide present in caustic-neutralized paints accelerates ester hydrolysis. |
