Abstrakt: | A critique is presented of the 15th century novel "Momus" by Italian author Leon Battista Alberti, focusing on the relationship between humanism and holiness in the work and Alberti's 1443 journey between Florence and Rome, Italy with Pope Nicholas V. Allegory in the novel, religiosity in the Renaissance, and references to humanist philosopher Marsilio Ficino are discussed, as well as the portrayal of Greek mythology in the novel. |
