The article describes the case of a 72-year-old woman who presented with a six-week history of rapidly enlarging mass of her right jaw with associated facial nerve paralysis. A malignant tumour of the parotid gland was originally thought to represent metastatic melanoma which was reclassified as malignant melanoma of soft part/clear cell sarcoma (MMSP/CCS) on the basis of the presence of a EWSRI-ATF1 gene fusion. A diagnostic dilemma ended with a hybrid diagnosis of angiosarcoma with MMSP/CCS. |
