The article reports that the Puente Hills Landfill in Los Angeles County, California is scheduled to close in October 2013. According to Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County Division Engineer Robert Asgian, the closure of the site will likely result in a rise in waste disposal costs among communities that use the landfill. In addition, the materials that are used onsite at the Puente landfill will have to find new sites. Options offered for these materials include composting and mulching. |
