This article presents information on books related to accounting, business methods, investments and exchanges. The book "A Solution to the Appreciation Problem," by W. B. Castenhole includes two papers. One is a discussion on a proposed solution to the accounting problem of recognising appreciation of fixed assets and the other a discussion of appreciation. The first half of the book "Investment and Speculation: Studies of Modern Movements and Basic Principles" presents a negative approach to investment and the major portion of the argument is given in an interesting account of British and American investment trusts. The book "Accounting Principles and Procedure" is to provide a first-year college course in accounting. The book is divided into two parts with a separate laboratory manual to accompany each part. The book "Accountants' Handbook," 2nd ed., by W. A. Panton is a revision of a work first published in 1923. The handbook covers a wide range of subjects treated by over 50 contributing and consulting editors. |
