Pine forests fragmentarily distribute in Eastern Inner Mongolia Plateau. A 4.2-ha sandy (Pinus tabulaeformis) nature forest plot was set up on Eastern Hunshandake sandy land, in 2009. All the trees with DBH≥5cm were located. There are 4 363 individuals, belonging to 10 tree species. Dominant species are Prunus armeniaca and P. tabulaeformis. Stand spatial structure was quantified by three structure parameters: mingling, angel index, and size differentiation. The results showed that the average mingling value of stand is 0.42, dominant species' mingling are lower than the average mingling level, and the size differentiation value of most tree species fluctuate at common level. The angel index value of all individuals is above 0.517, indicating individuals of the same tree species are clustered, the distribution patterns of the forest and most species are aggregated. This spatial structure is closely related with favorable microhabitats of stabilized dunes. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
